Garden Visits

Each year we arrange at least one members' visit to a local garden of interest, complete with refreshments.

This year our main visit will be to the Grange at Chalgrove in Oxfordshire on 2 July.  We also have a visit to Springfield Farm, Butler's Cross, on 11 June.  Please see the Events Calendar for more information about the location and time of the visits.

The Grange has 11 acres of gardens including herbaceous borders and a large expanse of prairie with many grasses and a wildflower meadow. There is a lake with bridges and a planted island, a dry river bed and a labyrinth. A brook runs through the garden with a further pond, arboretum, old orchard and partly walled vegetable garden.

This local garden is 2½ acres.  A bridge with a pond leads you into the garden which is divided into rooms by beech hedging.  It includes a rose garden with mainly David Austin roses, herbaceous borders, shrub borders, orchard and vegetable garden.
