"Stronger local leadership, greater resident participation in decisions and
an enhanced role for community groups, can all help local areas to promote community cohesion.”

- 'Strong and prosperous communities - the Local Government White Paper (Summary)', October 2006

VOICE supports residents in being and becoming actively involved in their communities. It allows groups to campaign for a better neighbourhood by enabling them to ePetition, carry out surveys and hold live discussions, providing a channel to make resident views public on any subject - from community safety to green issues to civic facilities.

A-Z Directory
VOICE's unique Directory allows community groups with similar goals to find each other and get in touch electronically to share information, progress and best practice locally, regionally and nationwide.

Administration
While the local authority would support an area’s VOICE roll-out, the local CVS (Council for Voluntary Service), or an independent body, is best placed to lead on the administration of community group sites – full training is available.

eDemocracy use of VOICE: examples
Residents can use VOICE software tools to flag up badly lit residential streets and enviro-crime hotspots, campaign against planning applications or petition for community centre improvements.
