Volunteer Centre

Voluntary Action North Lincolnshire has launched a new Volunteer Centre which will provide a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and linking service.

The Centre will provide links into a broad range of volunteering opportunities for people from all walks of life, including young people, people from other cultures and people that are looking for new experiences and skills either to get them into the employment market or just because they want a new challenge.

"Volunteers will be offered a general volunteering course before embarking on their chosen volunteering role. This course will include many of the basics which help volunteers to settle into their new roles," explained Carole Phillips, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action North Lincolnshire. "However, it is not intended to replace the training that many voluntary organisations currently provide, but rather to add value to it and to help the volunteers to feel more confident in their abilities."

In order to be able to offer a wide range of opportunities to prospective volunteers Voluntary Action North Lincolnshire is now recruiting partner organisations which need new volunteers.

Partner organisations might need volunteers for a multitude of reasons, for instance:

  • To join the management Committee
  • To deliver the services of the organisation e.g. Befriending, Meals on Wheels
  • To help run a friendship group or youth club
  • As volunteer drivers

They might need volunteers with experience that will help them with a project idea, for example:

  • writing bids for funding,
  • book-keeping or accountancy skills,
  • gardening and DIY skills.

The list is endless.
