Stronger Communities – Have your say!

The draft Stronger Communities Plan is now out for consultation and it is very important that as many people as possible with an interest in communities have their say!

The Stronger Communities Plan is broadly about tackling vulnerabilities and inequalities in order to achieve independent, active, empowered and cohesive communities.

The plan is 1 of 3 that sit under the Safer Neighbourhoods Board which is leading on Safer and Stronger Communities block of the Local Area Agreement (LAA); which is an agreement between Government and Local Strategic Partnerships. The Local Area Agreement sets out the targets for improving North Lincolnshire as an area for the benefit of its residents.

The Stronger Communities Plan will need to deliver as part of its activities, the agreed LAA Stronger Communities priority targets, which are:

  • Increasing the number of people who believe that people from different backgrounds get on well together
  • Increasing the number of people who feel that they can influence decisions
  • Creating an environment for a thriving 3rd sector.
  • Increasing adult participation in sport.

VANL is particularly pleased to see the national target of Creating an environment for a thriving 3rd Sector’ as a priority outcome and this is why it is particularly important that the voluntary and community sector get involved in responding to this consultation.

In your responses, Click here to view Response Sheet we need to know:

Ø      What is missing from the plan?

Ø      Are the actions in the plan the right ones?

Ø      What are you already doing that will contribute to delivering the Stronger Communities Plan?

Ø      What could you do that will deliver Stronger Communities?

The consultation closing date is 24 October, however we would really appreciate comments by the end of September if possible, so that we can amend the plan and publish it for further comments. Please share this consultation with other members of your organisation or your organisations beneficiaries if you think that is appropriate.

Many thanks
