The Friends of Rectory Park has four main aims, namely to protect the Heritage of the Park and to preserve it’s Natural Character, to promote an awareness of the Park’s Treasures to the public and encourage Community Use.  It also wishes to protect the Park’s environment, by replacing dead and fallen trees; and to encourage the wild life and protect their habitat.

Membership of the Friends of Rectory Park is open to all members of the public and its officers are elected annually at the AGM which is held in November.  Bi-monthly meetings take place at the Sutton United Football Club’s premises in Hollyfield Road, next to St Chad on the first Thursday in the month.

The FoRP was formed in November 2006 and have a number of projects in hand;  The purchase and erection of 70 bird & bat boxes;  The planting of 460 meters of hedging and a substantial number of young trees;  The construction of some 20 baffle benches from fallen trees and to purchase a few high back benches to be placing around the park;  A number of waste disposal bins would be acquired bearing the FoRP’s motif to be placed in close proximity of the seating;  The erection of a plinth to hold the Gracechurch Mall sculptures;  A Park’s notice board acknowledging our Sponsors and giving a history of the Park.

The FoRP have been in contact with every business premises that back on to the Park or are in very close proximity to the Park seeking support in a financial manner.
