The Advisers Forum is organised and operated by Kingston Voluntary Action (KVA) and its aim is to create a partnership between agencies based in Kingston.

We aim to work together to make advice work

  • Better for clients and;
  • Better for advisers

This will be done by establishing a network of advisers for mutual support and referrals between agencies. This will mean that clients get the best possible advice from the most appropriate agency and that advisers, especially those in smaller agencies, are well supported and have quick and easy access to colleagues in other agencies and are kept up to date with developments and ideas in the wider Advice Sector.

The information that you will find on this website has been provided by the individual agencies and it will be their responsibility to ensure that it is kept up to date.

Adviser's Referral System
From time to time, it is appropriate to refer a client to another agency who is in the partnership and this needs to be done in such a way that the client gets the best possible service and in a manner that can be easily dealt with by the agency taking the referral.

Therefore, it is important that the originating agency provides the referral agency with all necessary information to assist supporting the client. It is also important that the client fully understands the referral system.

How to make referrals
When recognized that your client could benefit from advice from another agency, you should:

  • Click on the “Agencies” link page to access all agencies within the forum and their contact details
  • Contact the other agency by their preferred method to ensure that they are able to accept the referral.
  • If they are able to accept the referral, look on the agency's page and click on To refer a client, click here to upload the referral documents
  • Explain the referral system to the client
  • Complete the generic referral form
  • Complete the referral system letter for the client
  • Obtain all required written authorisations from client
  • Email, fax or post the referral form and other accompanying documents to the other agency

The receiving agency will:

  • On receipt of the referral, contact the client to make an arrangement to discuss the issues with them
  • Carry out all the necessary casework
